Dalton, Georgia… Each year Textile Rubber & Chemical Company awards two (2) full college scholarships to children of TRCC employees who are graduating high school seniors. The Joseph E. Willard Memorial Scholarship was established in 1984 in memory of Joe Willard, Harvey Howalt’s longtime assistant who supported education within the company and the community. The Ray N. Taylor Memorial Scholarship was established in 2013 in memory of Ray Taylor, a long-time Company President and close friend to Mr. Howalt.
The full scholarship amount pays four years of college tuition, room and board within the University of Georgia system, or an amount equivalent for out of state recipients. The amount is based on the average cost to attend University of Georgia, Georgia Tech and Georgia College and State University, which is currently $23,000 per year. At this time, TRCC has eight (8) active scholarships and has paid out more than $200,000 so far in 2017.
